Tomáš Rychlý has been a judge of the Supreme Administration Court of the Czech Republic since 1 February 2017. 

The Court is the highest instance for judicial review of administrative decisions and acts in the Czech Republic (including e.g. tax and other fiscal matters, licensing and permits, regulation of financial markets, zoning and construction, administrative sanctions, and data protection). 

Before joining the Court, he worked as a Czech attorney (“advokát”) for about 20 years. His last position was the Managing Partner of the Prague office of CEE regional law firm Wolf Theiss (2012 – 2017). His practice focused on intensely regulated industries, in particular the energy, infrastructure and health industries. Tomáš advised clients on M&A transactions and projects in these industries, provided guidance on financing issues and advised them on diverse regulatory matters, including the competition law and data protection issues. He has been practicing law since 1997 and was admitted to the Czech Bar in 2000. Before joining Wolf Theiss, Tomáš worked for global law firms (Clifford Chance 2008 - 2011, Allen & Overy 1998 - 2002) and was also a partner at a Czech law firm (2003 – 2008).

He has been teaching theory of law at Charles University Law School in Prague for a number of years. Tomas is closely cooperating with the department of administrative law at the Charles University and he regularly lectures on various subjects at the Czech universities and other academic fora (including e.g. at the conference of The Association of European Competition Law Judges (AECLJ) in June 2018).
